Colonoscopy on theGold Coast.
With Dr Goutham Sivasuthan, Specialist Endoscopic Surgeon, at Miami Private Hospital. No-gap specialist fee for insured patients. Self-funded colonoscopy $1,650, confirmed in writing.
GP referral required. Your date is confirmed after clinical review and written costs. Hospital excess and anaesthetist fees may apply for insured patients.
Three reasons your GP may have sent you here.
Dr Goutham reviews the referral, recent results, medicines and relevant history before any date is confirmed. Many people move straight to a procedure. Others need a consultation first.
A positive bowel-screening result
A positive bowel screening test means blood was found in the sample. It does not diagnose cancer. Your GP will discuss further assessment, usually a colonoscopy.
Symptoms that have not settled
Bleeding, iron-deficiency anaemia, or a lasting change in bowel habit are worth looking at properly rather than watching.
History or surveillance
Previous polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, or a family history change when your next colonoscopy is due.
Colonoscopy can investigate symptoms and allow suitable polyps to be removed. Risks include bleeding, a tear in the bowel wall and problems related to sedation. The examination can occasionally be incomplete or miss abnormalities. Dr Goutham will discuss the benefits, risks and alternatives for your circumstances.

Before you book
Do I need a GP referral?
Yes. A current referral lets Medicare and your health fund contribute. Your GP can send it before or after you reserve a date.
Is it really no-gap?
For insured patients, Dr Goutham's specialist fee is no-gap, so there is no bill from your surgeon. A hospital excess and a small anaesthetist fee may still apply, and we confirm every figure in writing first.
How soon can I be seen?
Call 07 3733 1551 for current availability. Your procedure date is confirmed after your referral is reviewed. If a consultation is needed first, we tell you why and arrange it.
Where do my results go?
Your GP receives the procedure report on the day. We follow up with you directly on findings, pathology and any surveillance plan.
